Care and Learning in Peterborough, Ontario
Childcare and Learning Grounded in Love
Childhood deserves to be savoured, just like every season. At The Babbling Brook, each moment of our day aims to create a sense of belonging, develop our love of the land, and finds joy and learning in our tasks. Rooted in the rhythms of nature and grounded in love, the aim of The Babbling Brook is to offer children a place to play amongst the trees and grow alongside the garden.
Early Land Based Learning
The Babbling Brook embarks on an adventure each and every day together. Located just off of the Trans Canada Trail, we walk, explore and commune with the land, learning from the seasons.
Animals as Teachers
We love caring for and learning alongside our two goldens, Mollie and Daisy, as well as a guinea pig and rabbit. These loving companions encourage empathy, responsibility and interdependence.
Seasons as Curriculum
From tenderly caring for seedlings in our greenhouse, to tending to our annual sunflower stand in support of local animals, to snow shoeing, to picking apples to make apple crisp. Our weeks, months and years follow a predictable yet unique rhythm, which connects us to our earth and each other.
Community Connections
The Babbling Brook aims to be a source of joy in our community, not only for our small community of families, but also Peterborough as a whole. Intergenerational Programming on Saturdays offers a chance for children and caregivers alike to build relationships with seniors in our community. The Babbling Brook hosts various events for our network of families such as “stay and play” afternoons, walking adventures, an annual Egg Hunt, and craft mornings from time to time. Please subscribe to hear about any upcoming community opportunities.
